Impressive Leipzig beats Cornexi

The 2005/2006 Super League season got on the way in Szekesfehervar today. In Group A, visitor HC Leipzig beat Cornexi-Alcoa-HSB Holding 29:24.

Kenyeres leads Cornexi to victory

Cornexi-Alcoa won its last league game of this calendar year by beating Kőbányai Spartacus 40:29 in Székesfehérvár today. The match turned out to another power demonstration of Cornexi in the last 20 minutes of the match, only. Quite surprisingly, the guests from Budapest, currently 7th in the Hungarian Women’s League Table, kept the space with home team deep into the second half, but the supreme performance of Fanni Kenyeres helped Cornexi to finish the game on a high note and stay in contention for a medal in the domestic league.
The 26-years-old Kenyeres was the Player of the Match scoring 8 times, proving her successful recovery from an injury (broken finger). However, Hungarian international Beatrix Balogh was best scorer with 11 goals. Shooting star Szabina Tápai (5 goals), Elena Kordyuk (4) and Valéria Szabó (3) had also strong performances. Goalie Tímea Sugár had another great game, boasting her confidence ahead of the upcoming European Championship.
